SID tracks

Paradroid

Composer: Andrew Braybrook · 1985 · C64

The haunting, mechanical theme that accompanies the droid-combat on board the Taxidermist. Braybrook composed this himself — sparse, eerie, perfectly matched to the game's atmosphere of tense, methodical robot takeover.

Uridium

Composer: Rob Hubbard · 1986 · C64

Rob Hubbard's iconic title theme for Uridium is one of the defining SID chip compositions — relentless, driving, a perfect sonic companion to the game's high-speed dreadnought runs. Cited repeatedly as a pinnacle of C64 music.

Gribbly's Day Out

Composer: Andrew Braybrook · 1985 · C64

A playful, quirky SID score that matches the game's character-driven platform action. Braybrook's own composition, demonstrating his range as both programmer and musician — very different in tone from the later atmospheric work on Paradroid.

About the SID Chip

The Commodore 64's SID (Sound Interface Device) chip, designed by Bob Yannes in 1981, gave C64 programmers three independent voices with ADSR envelope control, ring modulation, and filter capability. In the hands of composers like Rob Hubbard and Andrew Braybrook, it produced music of genuine emotional and aesthetic power — music that listeners still return to forty years later.

The High Voltage SID Collection (HVSC) is the definitive archive of C64 SID music, containing over 50,000 tunes. Browse the archive at hvsc.c64.org →
