Emulators

VICE — Versatile Commodore Emulator

Free · Windows / macOS / Linux

VICE is the definitive C64 emulator — accurate, actively maintained, and free. It runs all Graftgold C64 titles faithfully, including the full SID audio. The recommended starting point for anyone who has never played Paradroid or Uridium on original hardware. Disk images for all Graftgold titles are available via the Internet Archive.

Internet Archive — In-Browser Play

Free · No install required

The Internet Archive hosts preserved disk images for several Graftgold titles and provides in-browser emulation via the JSMESS/VICE WebAssembly engine. The easiest option for a quick session without installing anything. Search for individual titles by name on archive.org.

Original & FPGA Hardware

C64 Mini & C64 Maxi — Retro Games Ltd

Commercial hardware

The C64 Mini and Maxi are officially licensed recreations of the C64 running an embedded VICE emulator. Several Graftgold titles — including Paradroid — are included in the pre-installed game library. A good option for those who want accurate C64 SID audio without the complexity of setting up a full emulation environment.

MiSTer FPGA

FPGA hardware · High accuracy

MiSTer is an open-source FPGA platform that implements the C64 (and many other platforms) at the hardware level rather than through software emulation. The C64 core for MiSTer provides extremely accurate SID audio and timing — for those who want the closest possible experience to original hardware without sourcing a working C64.

Disk Images & Preservation

Preserved disk images for Paradroid, Uridium, Gribbly's Day Out, Morpheus, and Intensity are available through the Internet Archive. Search by full game title — for example, the Paradroid image is catalogued as uta_Paradroid_1985_Hewson_Consultants_205.

For the Amiga titles (Paradroid 90, Fire & Ice, Uridium 2), ADF images are the standard format. These run correctly in WinUAE (Windows) or FS-UAE (cross-platform). Lemon Amiga provides release information and links for all three titles.
